These prestigious annual awards, hosted by the City of Monash, recognise the individuals and groups who dedicate themselves to the betterment of our community. From tireless volunteers and young leaders to environmental champions and advocates for diversity, the awards celebrate those who live the values of service, leadership, and inclusion.

What Are the Sir John Monash Awards?

Named after General Sir John Monash — one of Australia’s greatest civic and military leaders — the awards honour Monash locals who embody his legacy of determination, innovation, and commitment to community.

There are 12 categories to nominate in, including:

• Young Leader Award (8–14 years old)
• Youth Leadership Award (15–25 years old)
• Volunteer of the Year
• Outstanding Leadership
• Sustainability Leadership
• Multicultural Champion
• LGBTIQA+ Community Leadership
• Positive Ageing Leadership
• Inspirational Women’s Leadership
• Outstanding Advocate of People with Disabilities
• Active Monash Award
• Reconciliation Champion
